So since I'm supposed to be taking it easy this week (ahem) with the whole half marathon thing last weekend, I decided to mix up my cross-training and go back to a whole new lower impact form of torturing myself.
That's right.
It's time for spin class at the Y.
I think I picked a really good class to jump back in on, though. I managed to drop into my favorite spin teacher's strength session, so I still got to rest a bit since there were no pedal super fast sessions.
Let me sum up spin class. The first piece of equipment you pull out is this huge heavy duty matt for under your bike. Then the bike itself. You get your seat and handlebars all adjusted and start pedaling to warm up before class begins and make sure that you bring a water bottle and a towel.
You will drink a ton of water and you will sweat out a ton of water. About halfway through the class the teacher will tell you she is currently pedaling on gear a gazillion, but this is of course "just a suggestion." Then she tells you to add another couple of gears until you feel like you cannot possibly push that weight with your feet.
And that's when you start the standing on the pedals portion of class. And then play simon says by standing up and sitting down repeatedly for the rest of class.
Yeah.
So much for "rest days." I miss running. A LOT! Thankfully, my first post half five miler is tomorrow!
YAY!!!
I actually kind of think I like spin, despite all my whining. We'll see.
